Underground road prototype unveiled

A prototype underground tunnel, designed to transport cars at high speed around Los Angeles, has been unveiled by Tesla's Elon Musk.
The idea is that this will eventually ease traffic congestion in the city. The tunnel, which is currently only a mile (1.6 km) long, will allow modified electric cars to travel at speeds of up to 150 mph (240km/h), after they have been lowered into the tunnel using lifts.
These cars are then slotted into tracks, turning a normal car into a stable vehicle by adding additional wheels so it can travel at speed through the tunnel. Mr. Musk explained, "you will have main [tunnel] arteries that are travelling at 150mph and when you want to go to an exit, you will have an off ramp".
