Posted on: 06 February 2019

Following the granting of royal assent in December 2018 to the Civil Liability Act in December 2018, Before the Event (BTE) legal expenses insurance may become a more popular product as changes filter through in personal injury matters and the wider changes to the Small Claims Limit begin to impact claimants.

Mike Wildy, Senior Business Developer, Allianz Legal Protection (ALP), has written a two-part blog looking at the prospects for the BTE insurance market in 2019 and providing answers to the following questions:

  • What is BTE?
  • Has anything changed post-LASPO in BTE?
  • Is BTE cover understood in general?
  • What are the benefits?
  • What is the role of BTE?
  • Will BTE become more prevalent and widely used?
