Non Destructive Testing (NDT)

In today’s commercial environment, the application of these extremely versatile specialist techniques can be used to address a wide range of technical inspection issues reducing downtime of process machinery and electrical systems:

Ultrasonic Testing

This technique is widely used on pressure and structural fabrications to ascertain the volumetric integrity of welds and detection of sub-surface cracking in a wide variety of materials.

Magnetic Particle Inspection

Used for the detection of surface breaking cracks in ferritic materials.

Liquid Dye Penetrant

A simple method for detecting surface cracks and defects, often used during the course of welded repairs or as a visual aid to supplement visual examination of equipment and engineering components.

Thermal Imaging

This technique has evolved into one of the most valuable diagnostic tools which can be used for planned preventative maintenance on electrical installations. By utilising infrared images it is possible to scan electrical systems whilst under load enabling ‘hotspots’ to be identified. This provides the user with information to plan repair/replacement work into scheduled power outages. This technique can also be used for assessing the thermal integrity of insulated systems, heat leakage for building thermal efficiency and the detection of toxic mould growth areas.
