Allianz Insurance will announce the launch of a sport-related employee and broker engagement programme at this year's BIBA Conference.
'Team Allianz' features a group of highly-talented athletes from the past, present and future, including Olympic and Paralympic Gold Medallists, World, European and Commonwealth Champions and World Record Holders.
Over the next 18 months, Allianz employees and broker partners will be getting to know the athletes via videos, blogs and web content produced exclusively for Allianz. The 'Team Allianz Live Experience' has also been created and will be visiting the Company’s UK locations giving staff and brokers the opportunity to meet Team Allianz's world class athletes and gain fascinating insights on high performance.
The athletes cover a range of disciplines, including track athletics, swimming, cycling, rowing, equestrianism, triathlon and taekwondo and will provide staff and broker partners with a unique insight into what it takes to compete at the highest level in their chosen fields. Team Allianz is made up of the following athletes:
- Aaron Cook – European Senior and World Junior Taekwondo Champion
- Alistair Brownlee – 2009 ITU Triathlon World Champion
- Andy Hodge MBE – Olympic and double World Champion rower
- Andy Turner – 110m Hurdles European and Commonwealth Champion
- David Weir MBE– British Paralympic wheelchair athlete, five time London Marathon winner and double Olympic Gold Medallist
- Eleanor Simmonds MBE– Double Paralympic Gold Medal-winning swimmer
- Jodie Williams – World Youth Champion over 100m and 200m
- Rebecca Romero MBE – former World Champion and reigning Olympic Champion track cyclist, only the second woman to win two medals in two different Olympic sports
- Sharron Davies MBE – Swimming commentator and former Commonwealth Gold and Olympic Silver Medal-winning swimmer
- Steve Cram MBE – Athletics commentator and former World, European and Commonwealth 1500m Champion and 1500m, 2000m and mile World Record Holder
- William Fox-Pitt – World No 1 equestrian rider and double Olympic medallist.
Commenting on the launch of the initiative, Allianz CEO, Andrew Torrance, says: "What we're trying to achieve with Team Allianz is find out more about what it takes to be the outstanding competitor in our chosen markets. Passion, focus, teamwork and style – are all values that our business shares with these athletes and I think we can learn a tremendous amount about what it means to be outstanding as they look to raise their level of performance.
"We will also be engaging with our broker partners on this programme, sharing with them our aspiration to become the undoubted leader in our own field in the way that our athletes aim to do in theirs. BIBA 2011 is a logical place to launch this initiative as it very much supports our conference theme and belief that by knowing more, we can achieve more."
Team Allianz ambassador, Steve Cram MBE, comments: "I've seen many corporate programmes but Team Allianz is different as it's really giving Allianz employees and their business partners the chance to get to know the athletes and be a part of their journey over the next 18 months. I've been involved with the Allianz team recording videos, writing blogs and attending conferences and I can see the genuine enthusiasm that they have in the programme and their drive for higher performance."
Team Allianz athlete Andy Hodge MBE, an Olympic and double World Champion rower, says: "I'm really looking forward to working with Allianz over the next 18 months and getting to know the company and their customers. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience working in a highly competitive environment where attention to the smallest aspects can make a big difference and I look forward to working with Allianz to help develop its own performance."
Team Allianz Live events will be held at Allianz locations across the UK from July 2011 onwards and local representatives will shortly be contacting brokers regarding their chance to attend.
