| Allianz Engineering is hosting a series of broker presentations on the subject of The Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations, following a survey* conducted by the insurer which found that 66 per cent of brokers do not feel supported by their insurance partners regarding this legislation.
The survey also found that:
- 51 per cent of brokers are unaware of the legal requirements for their clients
- 65 per cent are unaware of the consequences of non-compliance
- 90 per cent have not received any enquiries from clients about this legislation.
As part of the Company’s free Broker Breakfast Club programme, Allianz Engineering is delivering briefings to broker contacts at Allianz branches nationwide to educate them on the legal obligations for their clients – which could help prevent fines of up to £5000.
Steve Ford, special services manager, Allianz Engineering, said: “The Government have briefed Trading Standards and the regulations will be policed far more closely over the coming months. Brokers can play a crucial role in helping clients avoid costly fines, the last thing businesses want to face in the current economic climate.”
The Energy Performance of Buildings Regulations came into effect in April 2008 requiring every commercial property owner, landlord or manager to provide an energy performance certificate on construction, sale or lease of a commercial property. In October 2008, public buildings were also required to display energy certificates in a place clearly visible to the public.
